The FINE ART of DEALING with LOSSES – Deep Down You KNOW – but Find it Difficult to PRACTICE.

Greetings from Hitesh! Many people were in for a surprise when they came to know that both AJAY PIRAMAL and VIJAY MALYA were born in 1955 and both have created a DIFFERENT DESTINY for them. I was thinking in the line of LOSSES and I was in look out for a way to deal with it. So, let us go to a GAMBLER to learn from HIM.

GAMBLER’s way to deal with LOSSES:-

I read a beautiful story of a GAMBLER – who lost everything he had. He and his family were on ROAD. They had nothing but just Re.1 left with him. Looking at Re.1 Gambler tells his wife – let me try this one also and he goes to CASINO again.

As the luck would have blessed him – he started winning one bet after another bet. Re.1 became Rs.5 lakh in just one night. He decided to play the last game and go home. So, he put Rs.5 lakh into play and lost!! Back to family, his wife asked him – how much he lost? He replied Re.1 only!!

How NORMAL investors APPLY this principle in a DIFFERENT WAY?

Most investors would by X qty of shares. When price double, they sell 50% of the shares and remove there 100% of the capital. Now, they are 100% relax with the price movement of the balance 50% of the shares. PSYCHOLOGICALLY they feel that these are profit shares and they are 100% okay with the ZERO prices of those shares and they hold on for a long term.

Another way they deal is – if they make profit in TRADING, they buy shares with those profit and feel that these are PROFIT shares and they keep on holding shares even when the prices goes to ZERO.

What is the LESSON in the above example?

Like GAMBLER, normal investors also see their loss to the extent of losing their capital only. They all are not bothered if they lost the profit!!

Now let us take one step ahead. The above examples are taken in the middle of the journey of an investor. Say you started your job/business – you build up your capital and you accumulated X amount and now you are considering that X amount as your capital and you decide about your loss or profit based on that!! Am I right?

All your mental agonies start with your above thinking. The correct way to see your loss is to see your beginning. There are two beginnings for a person – beginning of CAREER and beginning of LIFE.

Beginning of CAREER:- Look what you had at that time and what you have NOW. You will see PROFIT everywhere in your life.

Beginning of LIFE:- You had nothing but EMPTY hands. You did not have your NAME/Your FAMILY/ YOUR MONEY / your Career or whatever you have now. If you look at that position with your CURRENT position – you will see tons of profit in your life!! Will you worry about some losses NOW!! Whatever you lose is the loss in profit only!! Just think on this line.

HOW THIS ATTITUDE CAN HELP YOU IN TIMES of PANIC?

The biggest losses happen not due to the situations or you are wrong or you had a BAD choice of investments. Most losses happens when you PANIC in a given situations and you MESS up the GAME instead of DEALING with it.

If you have the above attitude – it will not STOP your LOSSES due to situations but you will be able to deal with them without panic and 100% presence of mind. When you are 100% present to any situations – you will reduce your losses or if at all losses comes – it will not affect quality of your life.

How Spiritual Master Uses The GAMBLER’s Example?

Spiritual Masters tells you that your CAPITAL is Re.1 only, meaning your SOUL. Your NAME/BODY/WEALTH will remain here only when you leave this planet.

You started with Re.1 and you lose Re.1 at the end of the GAME. Whatever you have EARNED will remain here only!!

What NEXT?

I had stared my career with Rs.140. Every time I am faced with possible losses – I ask – will I have more than Rs.140 after these losses or not? If the answer is YES – I just stop PANICKING and start working on the SITUATIONS. 90% of the time – I come out with the FLYING COLOURS!!
