Namaste!
Early in my life my business Guru taught me one important lesson – “Whichever
area of your life you focus on, it will see a drastic increase”. Over the years
– I have done a couple of surveys with my blogs and studied the responses of the
readers. This post is on the ATTITUDE of normal people. It is said – “your
attitude decides your altitude”. One of the ways to look at the focus of the
normal people is to look at the advertisements in the market.
Typical Advertisements in the Markets: -
1.
All health and wellness companies
are trying to hard-sell their products with top-notch models/heroes or sportspersons.
Compare this with the advertisements by your local doctors or
hospitals. You will find they are not spending money on Ads or spending very
less.
2.
Look at all the insurance
companies – general and life – they are spending tons of money to attract you
to buy their policies.
How many Chartered Accountants or Lawyers are doing their advertisements?
3.
All Banks / NBFCs and Credit
Card companies are doing advertisements to lure you to take loans and enjoy the
products.
How many collection agents are doing their advertisements?
4.
Tons of successful coaches do
their advertisements to invite you to their seminars and coaching classes.
How many psychiatrists do their advertisements?
What is
the point I am driving?
The focus of the
normal people is to SAVE LOSSES and not to KEEP their SUCCESS ALIVE. They have
to be convinced to buy a product or services which can keep them successful or add
to their success in the future.
I have found that people
approach me for astrological guidance when they are in soup and they think there
is no other way to go. They are ready to do whatever I say to them. The
same people will not spend even Rs.100, if they are not in any trouble. In
fact, they will say – I don’t believe in Astrology.
Many investors after
suffering heavy losses based on TIPS comes to me with the question – what to do
now? The same person is not ready to join me in educating himself to become a
seasoned investor.
Difference
between Successful and Not so-successful person: -
If you think you are
successful and want to remain successful – I have the following suggestions.
Make all efforts to
maintain your success. Say you are an investor – then there is only one way the
money can come from an increase in prices of your stocks or trading. But losses
can come from Ukraine / China / Pakistan / Oppositions / Natural calamities / Death / emotional setbacks /
corporate performance / cheating by fund managers/ your broker going bankrupt and
many other reasons.
In order to become a successful investor and remain a successful investor – you must focus on all and
many of the above reasons depending on your investment objective.
You will be required
to spend money and time monitoring all the above factors. If you see these
as expenses and avoid spending the same – you will repent when you incur
losses. In fact, there is nothing you can do to save losses after they happen.
What is my
GURU taught me?
If you do
things you don’t like to do, you will get things you want. E.g. I don’t like
to get up early and go for walk or exercise, but if I develop the habits – I will
enjoy good health.
If you don’t like to
spend money on investment consultant / astrological guidance in normal cases,
you will have to spend tons of money when you are really in the soup. The major
problem when you are in soup is – you will have no money to pay them or follow their
suggestions.
Long back – my mentor
ZIG ZIGLAR taught me – “If you spend money on anything, you don’t incur
expenses. You enjoy the benefits.”
What NEXT?
KABIR had said – "Dukh Mein Sumiran Sab Kare, Sukh Mein
Kare Na Koye, Jo Sukh Mein Simran Kare, Toh Dukh Kahe Ko Hoye." Meaning: "During suffering, everyone prays to the
Lord, but when experiencing happiness, we forget to thank God.
It’s obvious to show
urgency while you are in pain or loss. Show urgency when you are in good
times and profits.
