First meeting of Mr. Anupam Kher with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. Learning for All Investors.

Namaste! The weekend is full of festivities and celebrations. We had Ganesh Chaturthi and Samvatsari for Jain friends. I am sure you would have enjoyed both. I have always kept the weekend for new learning for myself. This week I am sharing one of the most inspirational first meeting of Mr. Anupam Kher with Big B.

The scene as narrated by Mr. Kher: -

They were shooting for Aakhari Raasta Movie in Chennai. Big B was in the get up of DAVID in a Beard / Wig / Suit and was covered with a Shawl or Blanket. The AC was not working. Mr. Kher had just got a huge success in the movie SANSAR and he was pissed of with the production people for HEAT of Chennai without AC But when he saw Big B, he was sitting in a corner and reading a book in a get up of a DAVID. (wearing a suit and shawl in Chennai heat)

Mr. Kher went to see him before the shot and wanted to start a talk with him. So, Mr. Kher said – AAP KO GARMI NAHI LAGTI? ( don’t you feel the heat?)

To this Big B replied.

Big B: - “Sochate hey to lagti hey, Nahi Sochate hey to Nahi Lagti.” (If I think – yes. If I do not think – No.)

How NORMAL investors think when they invest in stocks?

Before buying a stock: - I am a long term investor. I will hold on until my daughter’s marriage or son’s education or my retirement.

After buying a stock: -

Why the prices are not moving up fast? Why the stock is moving around the same levels?

If the prices go up after his purchase?

I am really lucky/smart. I really know, how to invest?

If the prices do down after his purchase?

I am really unlucky. My broker is dumb. He does not know which stock to recommend. All market is moving up but my stocks are not moving up, it means there is something wrong with this company. Should I sell it?

How the thought process creates problems with NORMAL people?

Investment is done only and only with SPARE money. It means this money is not needed now. You have invested in your future needs. The future is away by 10-15-25 years from today. But, thanks to your thought process – you are becoming happy or unhappy based on price movement in the short term.

Thanks to your short-term thinking – you end up selling future multi-bagger companies from your portfolio.

How the most successful people operate?

They are 1000% committed to their goal and they have a single-minded focus on their goal. Thanks to their commitment and focus – short term issues/losses/troubles do not bother them much.

Amitabh Bachchan is not a superhuman. His body also has all sensation which Mr.Kher was feeling. But the focus of Big B was on giving the best to the role of David in the movie. So, he was so engrossed in his role of David and his revenge for his wife’s murder – he did not feel the pain of heat.

There is a story in History – RANA KUMBHA – who established Kumbhalgarh in Mewar, in Rajasthan. In his lineage only we had Rana Sanga / Rana Uda (on his name Udaipur is known) and Maharana Pratap. It is said that Rana Kumbha was fighting in a battle and he was so engrossed that his HEAD was chopped off by opponent but still his body and two hands kept on fighting. I don’t care whether this is factual or not – I just want to bring home the point that how people who have high commitment and single-minded focus operate in their life and investments.

What is the role of Focus?

It is the nature of the mind to oscillate from one side to the other side. But if you divert your mind’s attention to your FOCUS with your determination power and commitment, it will remain hooked up to it. When the mind remains hooked up to your GOAL – you will see miracles in your life.

Watch your thoughts. Are they supporting you for achieving your goals or are they taking you away from your goals? This simple exercise will help you stay focused and be successful.
