Do You Invest The Way You Wish “Happy Diwali or Happy New Year”?

Diwali is the most auspicious festival and it’s also a beginning of a new year. We all love to wish Happy Diwali and Happy New Year to our near and dear. Moreover, it is customary to wish Happy Diwali, Happy Birthday, Happy New Year or Just Good Morning / Evening or Night. It is a way to connect with the people around us.

Custom V/s. Feelings:-

When wishing becomes a custom…..it is done to please the other person, to show good manners, to show that you are a gentleman, to show that you care for the other person. The funniest aspect is that both the persons forget almost immediately after wishing and they go to next. Have you ever received a call from the person to check how was your day/year after he wished you Good Morning or Happy New Year? In short, most of the time wishes come from your mouth / forwarded messages and not from your heart.

Does It Affect Your Life?

You live your life with “PLEASE ALL” mentality. There is nothing wrong with this attitude also…..but the basic principle says….you can’t “please all” ….so when you try to “please all”, you kill your inner voice, your inner feelings and ultimately you have manipulated relations.

How Does This Affect Your Investments? :-

According to Benjamin Graham “An investment operation is one which, upon thorough analysis, promises safety of principal and a satisfactory return. Operations not meeting these requirements are speculative.”

Without independent thoughts you can’t do thorough analysis!! The most basic quality of a successful investor is to have an independent thinking.

Mr.Buffett had also said categorically – “I am right because my analysis proves me. I am not right because Market agrees with me and I am not wrong because market disagrees with me.”

In short, you need to have independent mind of yours while you deal with the subject of investments.

When you have a “go with the flow” mentality……you break the basic rule of investments and you get manipulated by MEDIA!!

My Personal Call:-

Before you wish anything to anybody…….just wait for a second….see inside yourself….do you really mean what you say? If the answer is big NO…..Just Give A Genuine Smile To The Other Person….that will really make that moment very beautiful for him. This will lead to more smiles and more good moments…..naturally his day will be good, his week will be good, his month will be good and the year will follow.

A genuine smile can really change the world…do not believe me? Give it to yourself first thing in the morning when you brush your teeth…and see your day. Do give me your feedback….I have real concerns for you.
