If you think Achieving
your Goals or Good Work leads to Happiness, then read this real-life story.
Dear All,
Namaste!
Readers have liked our last post on the 2% change story. They were amazed that how
a small change of 2% can keep them ahead of the masses by 50 years? This is the
beauty of life and compounded interest. If you go deep down in the religious
books or preachers – they all talk about doing good to others is the best way
to happiness. In the management area – they say – if you achieve your goals –
you will be happy.
There is some
kind of OBSESSION to do good in some people. They want to go out of the way to
do GOOD. I remember an incident when a Priest asked school kids to do some
good work and come back next week.
So, he asked
next week – who did the good work? 1 boy raised the hand and said – I helped an
old lady to cross the road. The priest said very well.
The 2nd boy said – he also helped an old lady to cross the road.
The priest found
is something odd. But still, he said Very Well.
The 3rd
boy said – he too helped an old lady to cross the road.
Now, he got
suspicious and asked – did you got three old ladies to cross the road?
The boys said –
No. Only One Lady was there. She was not wanting to cross the road. But since
you asked us to do GOOD WORK – WE THREE FORCEFULLY made her cross the road!!
Many times,
this is the reality of GOOD WORK done by the most.
Story of a Successful Doctor: -
Dr. Dan Goodman once performed surgery on a
middle-aged woman whose cataract had left her blind since childhood. The
cataract was removed, leaving the woman with near-perfect vision. A miraculous
success.
The patient returned for a check-up a few weeks
later. The book Crashing Through writes:
Her reaction startled Goodman. She had been
happy and content as a blind person. Now sighted, she became anxious and
depressed. She told him that she had spent her adult life on welfare and had
never worked, married, or ventured far from home – a small existence to which
she had become comfortably accustomed. Now, however, government officials told
her that she no longer qualified for disability, and they expected her to get a
job. Society wanted her to function normally. It was, she told Goldman, too
much to handle.
Every goal you dream about has a downside that’s
easy to overlook.
My Personal Experience when
SUPER profit is generated for Clients: -
I also had a shocking experience like a doctor way back in 1999 for the first time. The company had moved up from Rs.4 to Rs.36 in that year. We had taken a big position and
he was earning in Crores. His reaction was – He will have to pay 30% TAX on
GAINS!!(Short-term gain in those days was 30%).
His reaction
was that we have done something wrong by earning tons of money for him!!
Since then I
have had many such shocking reactions for earning profits!!
Where to find
HAPPINESS then?
People think
after getting a job; they will be happy. After getting married they will be
happy. After getting kids, they will be happy. After buying a new house, life
will be set.
You may have
many such desires and you may be running towards the same.
I have found
out my happiness in DOING my work ONLY. Nobody can deprive my happiness by
doing my work. I am able to do is my POWER. I don’t wait for results to be
happy.
Think about
your investments from the above perspective.
Have a HAPPY
WEEK AHEAD.
