The Missing Links in SUNDAR PICHAI’s Speech (GOOGLE CEO) – Must understand before you get motivated.

Greetings from Hitesh! Regular readers have appreciated our blog on ARJUN and they have decided to make CONTINUOUS and NEVER ENDING LEARNING a part of their life. Indian minds are not able to differentiate between a PREACHER and SAINT. A good PREACHER is given the respect of REALIZED SAINT in India. That’s the irony.

Rather than learning BASICS of living a beautiful life – people prefer to listen to motivating story. Motivating stories are really helpful – provided you know the BASICS and you FOLLOW the BASICS on a daily basis. Let me deal with one such most forwarded message.

This message has a title of – “A beautiful speech by Sundar Pichai - an IIT-MIT Alumnus”

The cockroach theory for self development:-

At a restaurant, a cockroach suddenly flew from somewhere and sat on a lady. She started screaming out of fear. With a panic-stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach.

Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group also got panicky. The lady finally managed to push the cockroach away but ...it landed on another lady in the group.

Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama. The waiter rushed forward to their rescue. In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter.

The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behavior of the cockroach on his shirt. When he was confident enough, he grabbed it with his fingers and threw it out of the restaurant.

Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, the antenna of my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering, was the cockroach responsible for their histrionic behavior?

If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed?

He handled it near to perfection, without any chaos.

It is not the cockroach, but the inability of those people to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach, that disturbed the ladies.

I realized that, it is not the shouting of my father or my boss or my wife that disturbs me, but it's my inability to handle the disturbances caused by their shouting that disturbs me.

It's not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs me.

More than the problem, it's my reaction to the problem that creates chaos in my life.

Lessons learnt from the story:

1.  I understood, I should not react in life.

2.  I should always respond.

3.  The women reacted, whereas the waiter responded.

Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always well thought of. A beautiful way to understand - LIFE.

Person who is HAPPY is not because everything is RIGHT in his Life, he is HAPPY because his Attitude towards Everything in his Life is Right!!

The missing links in this story:-

Here it is not clear that –

1.   Whether the first lady / second lady or the waiter had an experience of handling the cockroach before this incidence took place?

2.   It is also not CLEAR whether they have been taught to handle this kind of situations and the first two failed while waiter succeeded.

3.   If waiter could handle it without past experience or past education then he had TALENT to deal with such circumstances and not the ABILITY!!

The most important part of the story is in the first line - This story was told to IIT – MIT Alumnus and not to the TOM, DICK and HARRY. When they have passed IIT and/or MIT and they are ALUMNUS, it means – they have been educated properly and they have the practical experience of handling the situations also. So, the above example is GOOD FOR THEM and not for NORMAL guy. They just need the support of proper ATTITUDE. They have all other ingredients for success ready with them.

What it MEANS for NORMAL Investors?

By listening to the story of RAKESH / BUFFETT or their friends / relatives or their fellow travellers – they get motivated to invest in stocks. They do not have the proper education / they are not ready to learn / they are not ready to practice the basics before they can bet bigger and bigger amount. All they want a TIP and they will buy 10000 to 1 lakh shares.

In the worst-case scenario – they get LUCKY in the FIRST TRANSACTION or FIRST YEAR of their life as an investor. Now these guys are in the CLOUD NINE. They will not listen to anybody. Their mind will get preoccupied with only one thought – earning more and more money in shortest possible time. This is the beginning of their FALL. I have seen guys selling their HOUSE to pay up for the LOSES they have incurred.  

The ROOT CAUSE is LACK of PROPER INVESTMENT EDUCATION. When you lack the BASICS – no amount of RIGHT ATTITUDE or RESPONSIVENESS will help you!!

What NEXT?

We are educating NORMAL guys to master the fine art of investments. Our goal is to make them achieve their financial freedom in just 3 years. I want them to work out of choice.
