BABA RANCHHOD DAS CHANCHAD a.k.a. “RANCHO” on PEAK INVESTMENT EXPERIENCE

Greetings from Hitesh! Some movies are worth watching time and again. I have selective collection and I keep on watching them again and again. Recently I watched 3 Idiots and I am sharing my understanding on PEAK INVESTMENT EXPERIENCE based on RANCHO’s Philosophy.

What is PEAK EXPERIENCE?

This WORD is coined by – ABRAHAM MASLOW. Since then, many in various fields have used it. It denotes the BEST that is possible in any filed of action. If I want to TRANSLATE I can say – HEVENLY EXPERIENCE or ECSTASY for NORMAL guys.

How to GET ECSTASY or PEAK EXPERIENCE in your FIELD?

I am sharing the formula from GITA chapter 2  verse 38.

सुखदु:खे समे कृत्वा लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ |

ततो युद्धाय युज्यस्व नैवं पापमवाप्स्यसि || 38||

sukha-duḥkhe same kṛitvā lābhālābhau jayājayau

tato yuddhāya yujyasva naivaṁ pāpam avāpsyasi

(Fight for the sake of duty, treating alike happiness and distress, loss and gain, victory and defeat. Fulfilling your responsibility in this way, you will never incur sin.)

When Gita was first translated in ENGLISH – this was the most CRITICISED VERSE in the WEST. They were shocked that ARJUN could KILL all and HE will not incur any SIN!! But most have forgotten the first condition - treating alike happiness and distress, loss and gain, victory and defeat. This is the MOST DIFFICULT condition.

We CHEAT/ We lie only because we want to GAIN something. If we don’t have to gain anything – do you think we will CHEAT? When there is nothing to GAIN – you will never incur lose also!! Just think.

If we go by this VERSE – you should invest considering profit and loss as EQUAL!!

Now, I know you will not invest if there is NO PROFIT or NO EXPECTATION of PROFIT.

So, when you INVEST for profit – all your focus is on PROFIT and not on your INVESTMENT ACTIVITIES / GENERAL MARKET TREND / RISK MANAGEMENT / SKILL DEVELOPMENTS / your ATTITUDE, etc.

95% of the GUYS invest only for PROFIT. Since all are in the GAME for PROFIT – they cancel each other out and the profit goes to the SMARTEST of the SMART 5% of the people. Only 5% are at the PEAK and 95% are at the BOTTOM.

How to get PEAK EXPERIECNE?

You have an experience of PEAK. Let me share you an example with you. As a KID when you were playing with your FRIENDS – you had no DESIRE to WIN or LOSE the GAME / all you wanted to take the FUN of playing with your FRIENDS. Time was passing very FAST. Your MOM used call you for LUNCH and you were not FEELING HUNGRY!!

Can you remember an experience like this? I bet you would surely have such an experience. You were FEELING ECSTASY. NO STRESS / NO HUNGER / NO TIREDNESS / FULL of ENERGY without any kind of ENERGY DRINK!!

Now, let us go back to BABA RANCHHOD DAS CHANCHAD

RANCHO was studying for the FUN of LEARNING and not for MARKS or CERTIFICATES!! Since his focus was on LEARNING – he was learning all possible things he can when he was studying. He knew that – HE WOULD NOT HAVE the DEGREE and the respect DEGREE gets him once the study is over.

He gave his DEGREE CERTIFICATES to somebody and went away from his life. But his focus on LEARNING took him to the PEAK and he could generate 400 patents on his NAME. Most reputed firms of the WORLD were searching HIM for his EXCELLENCE (they were not caring that he did not have any DEGREE!!).

We will also have to LEAVE our DEGREE and Go FAR AWAY someday?

Like RANCHO – we all will have to give our DEGREE (our BODY) to 5 elements and go FAR away someday from this playground called earth.

Now, if your BODY is not going to be there – all your achievements of your BODY / MONEY / NAME / FAME / RELATIONSHIPS will be LEFT here, nothing will come!! ALL will be LOST.

Now, where will you FOCUS?

Focus on what you are really GOOD at. Focus on what is your PASSION. See the life as a GAME and consider all others as your PLAYMATES. Now, you will have no fear of LOSE (as you are going to LOSE someday) / No expectation of GAIN (as it will not come with you) / No Jealousy / No bitterness with your playmates.

If you can just do this – you will always remain STREE FREE. When you are not in STRESS – PEAK EXPERIENCE will come automatically!! I am sharing my own experiences. Just try and tell me.

Where to FOCUS while investing?

All your problems in investing come because you are focusing on PRICE. When you focus on PRICE – profit and loss will come automatically.

Instead focus on BUSINESS / Inner value of Business (like ATMA in BODY) and you will have your PEAK experience in investment also.

What NEXT?

My focus in never on MARKET / Market Opportunities or profit or loss. My focus is on you. I try to work with your overall ATTITUDE towards life and investments. I know that is the only thing you can work on it. Once you are done with this – Winning in life will come automatically.

Same thing is being told by Mark Douglas in his book – “Trading in the ZONE” defines the successful TRADERS -

"What Separates the BEST traders from everyone is not what they do or when they do it, but rather how they think about what they do and how they are thinking when they do it"

READ THIS LINE as many times as you can. It talks about your ATTITUDE while investing. In India we have a SAYING "DAANAT TEVI BARKAT". This is the main INGREDIENT of your SUCCESS or FAILURE.
