How to Control Your Mind/Thoughts/Emotions While TRADING/INVESTING or in LIFE?

Greetings from Hitesh! Our 15^th March post on GOLD has become super hit, as usual. Thanks for your overwhelming responses and sharing. Today I am going to deal with the most important aspect every trader / investor asks me. They feel panic when the market goes down and they are on cloud nine when market goes up!! They want the solutions for this. Let me deal with the same based on my experiences in market.

Legacy of Our Thought Process:-

As long as you can go back in TIME – our generations have been thought to control / discipline MIND/Thoughts/Emotions. In fact, our Science, the way we see today, has been developed to control the NATURE. If you study the way SADHUS of various religions live or the way they preach – they use the terminology of CONTROL. Modern Management also teaches you to CONTROL things around you.

So, to think in terms of controlling things around you / controlling your thoughts / controlling your employees/boss/wife/kids has become the PASSION for Normal guys. When things are in control – they feel HAPPY!! Am I right?

When this control mentality guy comes to MARKET – he also tries to control the MARKET!! If he fails, he feels frustrated. So, he tries to control his MIND/Emotions and thoughts while trading or investing. Here also he fails. What to do?

What is the WAY OUT?

The way is simple. You must understand the fact that you and your mind are two different aspects in your BODY. Your mind is a place where thoughts keep on coming and going. It is 100% natural to have various thoughts at any given point of time in your mind. It’s the major job of MIND.

When you use the terminology of CONTROL – you are using your EGO aspect of your MIND. If you are staying alone in a JUNGLE or HIMALAYA – this may be okay. But you are staying in Society/Market – so the guy whom you are dealing with has also got an EGO. He, too, wants to CONTROL the things as per his way!!

According to me terminology and attitude of control is the most negative way to deal with the situations. You are complicating the things and life.

What is the BEST WAY?

Realise the TRUTH that you are not your thoughts or emotions or mind. When you realise this TRUTH, you will transcendent the level of controlling them, you will just OBSERVE them – the way you observe the road passing below your balcony. Once you know that your BALCONY and the ROAD are two different things – you do not get shocked when a dead body passes from the road. You do not feel happy when a marriage procession passes. You just observe the BOTH!! Am I right?

How to USE this Knowledge While You TRADE/INVEST?

Market is nothing but a collective MIND. It can move either way. It’s HIS way and it will keep on doing the same at any given point of time.

The problem with NORMAL guy comes when he becomes the MARKET. He becomes positive with market going up and he becomes negative with market goes down. If you see this deeply – problem is not with the MARKET (collective Mind - which you try to control), problem is with the NORMAL GUY’s attitude of relating himself with the market mood or controlling the market mood!!

If you separate yourself from the MARKET – you will be able to take advantage of the MOODs of Market. If he is negative, you will buy. If he is positive you will sell. Isn’t it simple? Mr.Buffett is a Realised Soul in this area. He has mastered this ART. If he can do it, you can also. He never tries to control the market. His success is purely dependent on taking advantage of market moods. In fact, he has said many times – “I like Pessimism, not because I am pessimistic, but because I like the opportunities pessimism provides”. He is able to do this because he sees the MARKET and himself as two different entities.

Our calls and our track record on Equities/Markets and Gold are the proof that we are able to see the market and ourselves as two different entities. I praise lord for this unique blessing. I am 100% grateful to HIM for gifting this ability to me.
