A Seasoned Thief and A Seasoned Trader – Both have a lot of similarities 

Dear Fellow Traders, 

Namaste! Many traders may get offended by the title of the post when I compare them with the Thief. But I am not talking about TRADERS. I am talking about SEASONED TRADERS. If you want to become a seasoned trader – a thief can be the best GURU. We Hindus love the concept of the thief so much that we have kept the name of our GOD VISHUNU as Shri HARI. HARI means one who takes away your things. Now, let us learn from the fine art of trading from a Seasoned Thief. 

1.   Thief always enters somebody’s house/office/territory for his success.

Naturally, he can’t do theft at his home. He has to go to somebody's place to make his living.

A seasoned trader also knows the same. He goes to the counter of Reliance or some other companies, he doesn’t own and does the trading. At all times he knows that he is playing at somebody’s counter to make his living or make tons of money.

 

2.    A thief walks like a CAT when he goes to somebody’s house for his theft

Have you seen the CAT walking when she sees wants to catch the mouse? She walks with lots of AWARENESS and DOESN’T make any sound in the darkness of the night. In the same way, thief also walks with AWARENESS and he has trained himself to see in the DARK. He doesn’t make any noise.

Seasoned traders also know that he is entering somebody’s counter. He is silent and aware when he enters. The way it's difficult to see at night, the seasoned trader knows that it's difficult to predict the market. So, he develops the skill sets to foresee market events.  

 

3.   Understand the Home Owner’s psychology to search for his MONEY without asking him.

    Many times, we are not able to search for things kept by us in our homes. But a thief who is unknown to our home comes for the first time – that too mostly at Night – and he is able to find out the hidden money and take it. He uses his brain to understand our psychology and search for money or wealth in our homes.

A Seasoned trader knows the psychology of fellow traders and finds out his trading bets accordingly. In recent months CARL ICAHN was buying TWITTER shares when ELON MUSK declared that he is not going to take over Twitter. Now, normal traders got out while CARL – knowing the law of the land and ELON MUSK Psychology kept on adding those shares. He was sitting on a profit of USD 500 million when ELON MUSK changed his mind and took over Twitter. So, understanding mass psychology is a must.

 

4.   Control of the BREATH and EMOTIONS: -

   Doing a theft requires a lot of guts and planning. In the process when they enter somebody’s house or break into an unknown house – naturally they get emotional pressures due to fear, insecurity, and uncertainty. But they keep their emotions under check. Since their emotions are under check – they can focus on their main objective of THEFT.

    A seasoned trader is also a master of his emotions. Just see the above example of CARL ICAHN. There were tons of negative news about the TWITTER post denial by MUSK. But he kept his emotions under check and he made tons of money.

    Normal traders and investors get panicked when their shares come down even after good results. 90% of novice traders fail because they are not able to keep their emotions under the control and focus on the company. Rather they waste their time listening to MEDIA. They never make money. 

5.   Running away when the OWNER wakes up or comes to know: -

     A seasoned thief will not waste his energy fighting with the owner or the murder of the owner. He simply runs away as fast as possible. All he wishes is that he doesn’t get caught so, he can try the next day at some other house.

     A seasoned trader when he goes wrong – he will book his stop loss as fast as possible and save his capital for the next trade. He knows that if the capital is there, he can make tons of money again.

 

6.   There is always a tomorrow: -

I have heard a story of a SUFI SANT who was in search of a GOD for the last 20 years. But he was not able to reach to the GOD. So, he decided to leave everything and go back to normal life. On the way home, he happened to get accommodation in the home of a THIEF. A thief would go for his profession every night and come back in the morning. The SUFI will ask what did he get – the thief would say nothing tonight but I will surely get it tomorrow night. This way he stayed there for 21 days and all the 21 days the thief did not get success but was always positive about the next day.

Looking at the thief’s positivity – SUFI decided to give it a second try to his mission of searching the GOD. When he became enlightened, he told his disciples that he owes his success to the thief. The thief was my GURU.

A seasoned trader also fails in spite of all their study and calculations. But they take their failures as learning and prepare for the next bet. They are always positive-minded and optimistic about market opportunities.
