Dear Fellow Travelers,

Namaste! I am back with my first post of 2021. I have come across an interesting riddle. It’s worth thinking about it as it can take your life to the path of progress very fast in the year 2021. The guy who shared was not able to solve it for 20 years. Let me share the Riddle now.

Riddle: -

There are two tracks for the TRAIN. One is live – means trains pass from it and the other is dead. It’s just lying next to it. No movements of trains on it.

A group of kids goes to play on the track. One boy tells others that this is a live track and we should play on the adjacent ones as the trains will not pass on that. But the kids decided to play on the live track only.

The kid who warned all was on the dead track and other kids were on the live track.

Now, a fast train was to pass on the live track. Motorman saw the kids on the track. He can’t stop the train. Should he pass the train on the live track or should he pass it from the dead track? What is the right option for him?

How a NORMAL mind will approach the RIDDLE?

He will think to reduce the loss of life. He would suggest that the train should pass on the dead track so that the motorman can save the life of most kids. (though it is written that the track is DEAD, meaning the train can’t pass on it!!)

This is how the normal mind approaches the choices in his life. Many times, I have come across marriages are happening because there is a 100% match of horoscope between the bride and groom but they have not seen each other. Many times, marriages happen because the bride is beautiful, or the groom is from a rich family.

The same guy when he goes to the market, he chooses the investment option which appears to be promising him more return in the shortest possible time.

Same guy when he goes in search of GURU, he will choose the GURU which has the highest number of followers. More followers assure him that so many people can’t be wrong!!

You may or may not be able to solve the riddle but if you are following any of the above traits – I can tell you for sure that you have not understood the riddle well. Last week we shared story of Harward Graduate wanting to learn Vedas. He also falls in to this category.  

What is the solution to RIDDLE?

The first and foremost thing – Motorman is supposed to follow the orders from the CONTROL ROOM. He has his duty towards the passengers to take them to their destinations. His first duty is towards the train and the betterment of passengers. The kids will have to blame themselves for not listening to the other kid who warned them or their parents for not educating them properly. 

You are the motorman of your TRAIN called LIFE. What are your inner callings, inner goals or innermost desires that you want to fulfill before you die? Have you ever thought about them? Happiness in life is all about inside out phenomenon and not outside in phenomenon.

Time and again I have seen that in relationships, business or career or investments – ultimately the inner calling becomes the deciding factor and not the outer show. So, those who start their life with so-called RIGHT things (like saving those kids – which is not their duty at all) end up 100% wrong in the area of HAPPINESS.

How SMART MINDS Operates?

The smart mind will go for the bride or groom they really love or which meets their inner callings. If they happen to be beautiful or rich, then it is a bonus, but they don’t decide based on these outer characteristics.

The smart mind when they come to the market, before investing they will have their investment goals written and they will have their own plans to achieve them. If they can’t do it themselves, they will have their personal investment consultant to guide them at each stage.

They will not invest solely because the return is fast or more. They will not waste time in choosing which mutual fund is better or which company is better. They will start their own mutual fund or take over the company or start a company. (look at the track record of BUFFETT in USA or RAKESH in India). I have seen BILLIONAIRE FUND MANAGERS or ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPANY who sells you mutual funds unites but I have yet to see BILLIONAIRE Mutual fund investor in Forbes List.

He will choose the GURU based on the QUALITIES of the GURU and not the number of followers.
