Do You Think EXCISE Duty is only JEWELLER’S Problem?

Greetings from Hitesh! During last 40 odd days there was Jewelers strike and there were three kinds of view on the same. Let me deal with each of them.

1.  Sadistic were of the opinion that JEWELERS should be charged excise duty as they are looting the normal guys like anything. Many said that people who started jewelry business started moving in a big car or started staying in big bungalows in just 2-5 years!! So, they should be made to pay the TAXES!!

2.  They was other group of people who were talking about the business model and the difficulties in keeping the track of papers / preparing the papers by the uneducated ARTISANS. They were afraid that they would spend more time in doing paper works then doing business.

3.  Small jeweler camps were also of the opinion that the BIG JEWLLERY CHAINS are after such laws, as they want to wipe out them with their muscle power.

 What is MODI Government’s Plan?

They want to stop the generation of BLACK money from the GRASS ROOT LEVELS – not at the top levels. ROOT will become the TREE some day. So, rather then worrying about the TREES – they are plugging the hole at the GRASS ROOT levels.

If you are born after 1970 and if you are in INDIA – you will feel the pinch most. You are the SANDWICH generation. Your DAD got away with the old system and your son will swipe the CARD. The real problem is with you. You can’t swipe the CARD like your son and you can’t buy the things like your DAD – as everywhere you will have to show the PAN CARD!!

My recent field visits to LUXURY watch stores tell me that they are in PATHETIC situations. They have customer, he is ready with CASH – but they can’t sell him without PAN card. The guy is not ready to give PAN Card. The deals are not happening!!

What is the ACTUAL issue?

Actual issue is our age old HABIT to avoid the payment of TAX. It is really painful to change the habits, which have gone in our BLOOD for several decades.

I am sure after 10 odd years – we will get used to new habits and forget about such STRIKE and such FIGHTS.

Good NEWS:- Those who followed jeweler issues will not have to pay the TAX!!

While the STRIKE was going on – our market was moving up silently. Nifty moved up by 700 points in MARCH and 250 points in APRIL so far.

Those who were busy following or discussing such issues missed the moneymaking opportunities of the year 2016 so far!! So, they have no money and no need to pay the TAX. Isn’t it good news for them?
