“I am an Educated / Progressive and Modern man. I can’t do PRAYERS and CHANTING, the way you suggested”.

Dear Fellow Travelers,

Namaste! I received lot many likes and appreciations for the yesterday’s post on PRAYERS and MANTRA CHANTING. Looking at the current time – it is difficult to have person who can do the PRAYERS and MANTRA CHANTING the way it should be done. The above is the very honest question from one of the reader.

What he says in short is  – “I am intelligent fellow, I use my brains all the time, I can’t use my heart”.

Let me start with a beautiful quote of an enlightened master – “Intelligence is intrinsic to life. Intelligence is natural quality of life. Just as fire is hot, air is invisible and water flows downward, so is the intelligence to life.”

So, intelligence is our nature. So, being intellectual is 100% normal for all of us. If we can bring intelligence in our daily living – we don’t need to do the prayers or mantra chanting. 

For that let us learn What VED VYASJI said in MAHABHARAT: -

VED VYAS had said – in SHANTI PARVA of MAHABHARAT, chapter 12, Adhyay 149, slok number 46. There are two parts of the slok. I will deal with them one after another.

यत्नॊ हि सततं कार्यः कृतॊ दैवेन सिध्यति

(YATNO HI SATTAM KARYA KRUTO DAIVEN SIDHYATI).

The simple meaning of the above line is – you should continuously do the work towards your goals/ fulfilment of your desire or your duty. Your efforts will give you results based on your BHAGYA or when your time comes or when the GOD desires. 

The line is very clear – go on doing your work. Results will follow surely at the proper time. Not before that and not after that. 

It means – if you are sitting doing nothing and expecting that you will become AMBANI or ADANI because some astrologer has told you that you are very lucky. Let me give you good news – you will not get anything without your efforts. After efforts also you will have to wait for the time. 

Sant Kabir also said the same thing in a beautiful way – 

"धीरे-धीरे रे मना, धीरे सब कुछ होय, माली सींचे सौ घड़ा, ॠतु आए फल होय।"

(Gardner may pour 100 pots of water to a TREE. But the fruits will come as per the SEASON.) 

Anthony Robbins took the same inspiration and devised his moto – CANi – Continuous and Never-Ending Improvement. He said that you go in improving yourself. That’s the POWER you have or the CHOICE you have. He summed up his message – Your DECISIONS DECIDE Your Destiny.

Now let us see the SECOND PART of the VED VYAS SLOK: - 

दैवं पुरुषकारश च कृतान्तेनॊपपद्यते

Simple meaning of this is – Bhagya is created by KARMA and even – God of DEATH – (KRUTANT – YAMRAJ) – will also not be able to stop you from getting those results. In other words – your KARMA will not DIE without giving you the results. You may die and take REBIRTH. You will get your results in the coming births, if you have not got them in this life.

So, if you read the SLOK in both the lines the meaning is – Do your KARMA continuously and wait for the time or Bhagya. You create your own Bhagya with your KARMA and results of the same will be given to you, even death will not take away your efforts. 

Now, the questions comes - How to bring intelligence while doing KARMA?

In Gitaji – Lord Krishna gives the half line formula for the same - "Yoga karmasu kaushalam". 

This is the simple way to work intelligently towards your spiritual growth by doing your KARMA. No need for BHAKTI.

 

Skill and efficiency: 

It is a call to perform tasks with skill, dedication, and attention to detail. The quality of one's work is as important as the quantity. 

Mindfulness and detachment: 

The core principle is to act with a calm and focused mind, free from the anxieties and ego associated with outcomes. 

Higher purpose: 

By approaching work with a sense of higher purpose and not just as a personal goal, one can find greater meaning and fulfilment. 

Spiritual growth: 

The phrase suggests that through skilful and selfless action, individuals can transform their daily lives into a path of spiritual development and liberation. 

Application: 

This principle can be applied to any action or duty, whether pleasant or unpleasant, to turn it into a spiritual practice. 

The above is the real taste of being intelligent while working.
