Dear Fellow Travellers,
Namaste! I keep on getting questions from readers. The above is a question from a reader and he has raised a genuine concern about the results of doing prayers and mantra chanting. Many times in my Astro consultancy also clients ask me – which mantra they should do to avert the bad effects of their coming time?
Let me deal with the same.
In Gita – Lord Krishna has said YAGYANAM JAP YAGYO SI. I am JAPA Yagya in all forms of YAGYA. So, there is immense importance of doing MANTRA CHANTING and PRAYERS. Doing JAPA is the best as per lord KRISHNA.
Now the question is are you doing it the right way?
When you are doing PRAYERS to fulfil your DESIRES – you are not doing prayers at all. Just think – say somebody wants a JOB / somebody wants to get married / Somebody wants a Kid – now when they pray- their mind is pre-occupied with the thought about fulfilment of their desire. When your mind is in your desires – your mind is not doing prayers and mantra chanting.
So, when you are not doing prayers in the first place – where is the question of getting results.
Do you think you are SMARTER than GOD?
When you ask from GOD a JOB / MARRIAGE / KID or any other wishes – you are not having faith in him and his way of giving you. When you are not having faith – whatever you are doing is waste. You will not get any results.
Another perspective is – your prayers are not payers but silent complaints about things you are not having. It means GOD is not intelligent enough to understand your NEEDS. When complaints come in your prayers – your prayers are not prayers at all. So, no results.
What has happened after your desires get fulfilled in the past?
Say you had a desire for something and that got fulfilled. What next now? You have another one. So, there is no end to your desires. Mind can’t be satisfied as a rule.
The real prayer starts when you are able to see that by satisfying your desires – you are still empty. The day you realise - your mind will go for real prayers.
Story of an HONEST – GOD FEARING GUY: -
I have read the story of a very honest and god fearing person. He prayed to God 3 times a day for 70 years.
He was complaining to the GOD about his neighbour’s success. He said – I have been praying for 70 years – 3 times a day – I have lived all my life honestly – I have never cheated anybody, still I am not able to have food two times a day. While my neighbour is not praying to you at all – moving around with a lot of women and cheating in the business - is progressing one side. I don’t want you to stop his progress but I want to know my mistakes.
Luckily – God replied. God said – you are doing something which he is not doing. You are NAGGING me 3 times a day like a WIFE for 70 long years while that guy is not bothering me at all. You have bothered me for 70 long years!! I am not punishing you for that, so relax. That is your reward.
Complexity of HUMAN desires: -
Our desires are very complex. Even if GOD wants to help us he may not be able to help.
E.g. – I want a Mercedes car but my neighbour should not have it.
E.g. – I want to marry the most beautiful girl in the world. Now the most beautiful girl also have desire to marry the most handsome guy on the earth. Whom should God listen to?
E.g. – Say somebody married the most beautiful girl – now the other desire – my neighbour should not stare at her / she
should be loyal to me. You see the complexity of the mind.
Most of our desires are coming from 6 sources LUST / ANGER / GREED / ATTACHMENT / EGO and JEALOUSY. They are known as 6 enemies of the HUMAN MIND. They are negative from the root. So, your prayers are done to satisfy any of the above 6 – you will not get what you want. Frankly, when you are preoccupied with the above 6 purposes in mind – you can’t do prayers at all.
What are the prayers in true sense?
Prayers and Mantra chanting is the best form of LOVE for your GOD. You are showing your gratitude towards HIM for whatever he has given to you. It’s a deep love affair with the GOD. You are doing SUMIRAN day and night. You are thanking him for giving you this life.
Remembering him is the best REWARDS for your prayers.
When you remember him with full love – all your desires will be taken care off. You will not have to ask.
Read the sentence - “I have been doing PRAYERS / MANTRA CHANTING for many years but my desires are not getting fulfilled.
His only goal to do PRAYERS and MANTRA CHANTING is to gain something. Not love for his GOD.
So naturally, the results will be negative.
What NEXT?
I see many people moving with JAPA MALA or MANTRA COUNTER in their hands throughout the day. If they can do it in the right way – it’s good for them. If they are doing out of any of the above 6 qualities or just habit – they will be punished for sure, forget about the rewards.
