Today we will talk about the new 3M in India Mobility Market.
Recent Developments in the Indian Internet services: -
Airtel and Jio have joined hands with the Star link to provide Satellite internet services to the Indian customers.
I am sure you would have read about the same in the media or heard on the TV.
As per the experts – this will help to provide the last mile connectivity in the remote areas where the signals of the towers are not possible to reach. It is also said that these services will be provided to the enterprises and health care segments first and then to the consumers.
Who is the most affected?
From our side we had written the post on 2nd August 2021 titled - Reliance Jio V/s Starlink satellite internet and Indian Banking System
We had shared the fear that the Mobile companies will get affected as they have done huge infra investments to provide connectivity to the Indian customers. When they are affected – naturally – the banks which have lent money to them will get affected.
In the current setup I see the following things.
· There are 3M – MUSK / MITTAL and MUKESH. But there is 4th M also – MODI Ji.
· MUKESH is the name while the other 3 are the surnames. The name Mukesh has a unique quality. He wants to control things and play the games as per his terms.
· In the current set up – it seems he is forced to do something against his will.
· Let me share some of the developments Reliance is facing at this moment.
1. Reliance got the NOTICE – The government has slapped a USD 2.81 Billion ( Rs.24500 Crs) demand notice on Reliance and its partners BP Plc, for gains made from producing and selling natural gas that may have migrated from neighbouring block of state owned ONGC.
2. The Bombay High Court directed the CBI to investigate Jai Corporation and its promoter Anand Jaikumar Jain for cheating and fraud. Allegations include conspiring to cheat investors by using forged documents, diverting funds to sister concerns and entities in Mauritius and Jersey for personal gain, and fraudulent exports to Australia and USA.
3. In the last 6 months Reliance was requesting TRAI to conduct the SPECTRUM auction for the SATELLITE also. Musk was against the same and Mittal didn't support the reliance view.
4. Reliance Jio has urged telecom regulator Trai to come up with a revised paper on spectrum allocation for satellite communication alleging that it ignores the key point of ensuring level-playing field between satellite and terrestrial services.
5. Jio and Vodafone Idea have opposed allocation of spectrum to satellite companies without auction.
6. Jio alleged that the paper is tilted towards administrative spectrum assignment which undermines norms of The Telecommunications Act, 2023.
7. It said that the Telecommunication Act, 2023 emphasizes auction as the default method for assigning spectrum for commercial services.
8. "We respectfully urge Trai to reconsider and revise the consultation paper, incorporating specific questions that address the level-playing field issues between satellite and terrestrial networks. Both auction and administrative assignment methods should remain open for stakeholders input, with due consideration given to competitive fairness," Jio said.
As a long-time observer of MUKESH Bhai – I know one thing – He doesn’t like to be Number 2 in any of the areas he is operating. He is a man who is always prepared for the future. But this time he didn’t get the support.
The above things are not going well with him.
What is the view of Political Experts?
It is HEARD on the STREET - that Mukesh bhai had done the funding to the opposition in the 2024 parliament election. Political observers are linking the above developments to this issue.
Another aspect is - TRUMP and MUSK forcing the World to act as per there tunes. See in the case of CAR also - India is considering slashing import duties on electric vehicles (EVs), including Tesla, from 110% to 15%.
So, in the case of Tesla or STARLINK – I think, Modi ji is not able to help the Indian companies. Script is written in the white house. This is the reason that AIRTEL and RELIANCE both SIGNED the deal with STARLINK with a gap of just one day. In normal course this would not have happened. They both might not have been given any choice.
What is my personal view?
Things at the top are beyond our comprehension. The thought process of top guys starts when normal people’s thought process ends. They have to think something out of the box to remain on the top.
I am keeping an open mind and watching the scenario as it unfolds without any bias and conclusions.
