“I Understand Market / Economics and
Investments – but Still UNABLE to INVEST and make MONEY. WHY?”

Greetings from Hitesh! Due to BUDGET we had taken a break from our “Self Knowledge to Self Success” education series. I am getting various questions and observations from the investors and reader friends and I am trying to deal with them as and when TIME permits. Today I am going to deal with the above OBSERVATION of our friend. I think many of you might have this kind of feelings, so I am taking this observation first.

First Thing First:-

I appreciate the HONEST confession of our friend. Unless you become HONEST in recognizing your own failures – you will never be able to correct them. So, 100 mark for the HONESTY. Now, let us go deeper in to the questions.

Let us UNDERSTAND the word “UNDERSTAND”:-

Understanding is of two types – understanding as an INFORMATION and understanding as an EXPERIENCE.

Thanks to our education system – we all are considered BRILLIANT / RANKER / INTELLIGENT by just writing informative understanding from BOOKS / GOOGLE to ANSWER SHEETS.

This is NOT ENOUGH. From the CHILDHOOD – we are taught MORALS / ETHICS / RELIGIOUS PRATCITICES / PRAYERS and things like that without going much deeper into them.

I believe 99% of the time we are not being told the REAL LOGIC of doing things – what we are asked to do? / We have no time to go deeper into it / we can’t ask BOLDLY to our ELDERS/ EDUCATION AUTHORITIES/ RELIGIOUS HEADS – WHY ? /
We have to keep up with our NEIGHBOURS or SOCIETY FELLOWS – and we keep on doing what they are doing!!

Based on above NRUTURING we develop particular kind of INFORMATION on various subjects. Most of them are not backed up by SELF-experiences. This creates an LLUSION of KNOWLEDGE within us. But deep down you know that you DO NOT KNOW (Not backed up by EXPERIENCE) – so you develop FEAR when you have to take ACTION based on your SUPER FICIAL KNOWLEDGE!!

I have heard some of the common sentences used by NORMAL people in their day-to-day life, I am sure you must have heard  – If GOD willing this will happen or that will happen / Inshallah / Thakurji KARE TE KHARU (what GOD DOES IS RIGHT) / Without GOD’s desire you can not move a LEAF of TREE. Now, this may be 100% TRUE for some REALISED GREAT SOULS. But for most of us this is BORROWED GYAN and when the CHEST PAIN STARTS – rather than waiting for GOD’s DESIRE – we simply go to DOCTOR.

What is the MOOT POINT?

There are certain KNOWLEDGES, which comes by SELF-EXPERIENCES alone. Investment is not about more information; it is more about your EMOTIONS. Your emotions will move from one end to other end depending on market moves and your positions. Unless you go through those EXPERIENCES with 100% mental awareness – I am sure you will not be able to INVEST for a longer period of time.

In 2008 IMRAN HASHMI starrer movie JANNAT – he says – “I realized myself when I am faced with the HAPPINESS of WINNING on one side and FEAR of LOSING on the other side.”

The main thing while investing is to SEE YOURSELF or GET CONTROL of YOUR-SELF. Once you see yourself – you will be able to do something about the situation in a very positive manner. (as such MARKET or SITUATIONS are never in your CONTROL!!) Once you are in your OWN control – you will be able to increase your PROFIT and DECRESE you LOSSES very effectively. I am sharing from my own experiences.

What is my ANSWER to our FRIEND?

Just do more and more TRANSACTIONS and see your mental behavior with the movement of the prices. The purpose here is to SEE your self and not your profit or your loss. More you do – more opportunities will come to SEE / OBSERVE your REAL SELF. With more and more such observations – you will know what exactly you should be doing in a particular situation!! One fine day you will do automatically what you should be doing.

Same thing is shared by BRICE LEE in ENTER the DRAGON - “A good martial artist does not become tense, but ready. Not thinking, yet not dreaming. Ready for whatever may come. When the opponent expands, I contract. When he contracts, I expand. And when there is an opportunity, I do not hit. It hits all by itself.”

READ the last line – once you KNOW YOURSELF – you will go on AUTO MODE!! Till that time – you need to PRACTICE/PRACTICE and PRACTICE with 100% awareness.

What is a ROLE of A GURU or COACH?

A GURU or COACH is not giving you NEW information every time you meet them. They just teach you the BASICS in 10% of the time and 90% of the time he helps you manage your EMOTIONS. He helps you KNOW YOURSELF!!
