How Polypsychic Nature Affects your Investments and Life?
Greetings from Hitesh! Our post on Honesty has become the most appreciated and read so far. Thanks for the same. Many times I see most learned and full of potential guys living their life in a normal condition. I often wonder how come they are not using their full potential and make their life an example for others to inspire? Then I came across following observations.
Have you observed this in your life?
While going to bed you decide to get up early and set an alarm for 5am. At 5am when alarm rings – you say let me sleep for 5-10 minutes more. In sleeping for 5-10 minutes you get up at 7.30am. Now you start cursing yourself for getting up late. You get ready in tension and decide that from tomorrow you will not repeat this mistake. But when alarm rings at 5am next day – you forget your decision and again decide to sleep for 5 -10 minutes more!! I am sure you would have observed this.
There are 5 persons involved in this event.
You always believed that you are one. But see there are 5 people involved in the above example.
What happens due to this?
Your energy, your intelligence, your efforts do not remain focused and gets wasted in so many channels at the same time. When you are not ONE, you can’t take advantage of your unique skill sets / your knowledge and opportunities.
How does this affect your investment performance?
Say you had been asked to invest in early 2009. You are logically convinced that market has made the bottom in 2008 and you should invest now. But when you go to invest – what will happen if it goes down again? You decide not to invest. When market went up to 17000 levels by July 2009, you curse yourself for not taking action in January 2009!! Now you decide that if falls come again – you will not miss the opportunity. But when market provided opportunities in 2011 and 2013 – you did not take any action!!
I have observed the behaviour of the most qualified and so called ambitious guys. But when it comes to practice – they all act the SAME.
How does this affect your Life?
Many guys make NEW YEAR resolutions and forget the next day. Many times they get the idea that they are not living the life the way they should have been living – but they forget the next day and get back to their routine. Sheer waste of GIFT called Life.
Why this Happens?
This is happening due to Polypsychic nature. At any given time there are many minds keep on working within you and you end up losing one opportunity after the other.
What is a Way Out?
If you take just three steps with 100% commitment to yourself – you will get the acceptance of your mistakes and you will never repeat the same!! That’s my assurance.
What’s my call?
At the end of your life – you will repent the shots you have not taken. Things you have not done. Life you have not lived. If you have not lived the life 100%, you will decide that in NEXT BIRTH you will not repeat the same – but you will end up living the same way in next birth also. That’s why GREAT SHANKRACHARYA in BHAJ GOVINDAM had said -
Punarapi jananam, punarapi maranam
Punarapi janani jathare shayanam
(You will keep on repeating cycle of births and deaths)
Take your own call. After all you claim that it’s your life!!

of losing opportunity. If possible quantify your loss for not acting in a way
you decided to act.
3. If you keep on
missing the opportunities like you have missed in 2009/2011/2013 – what is the
opportunity cost for such mistakes? Quantify the opportunity loss also. Write
down all the losses on Paper and ask yourself – will life be kind enough to
give you the opportunities again?
