Our reading of Vikram Samvat 2083 – Kalayukta Samvatsar.

Namaste! It’s our practice to see the coming time from various angles to prepare for its opportunities and challenges. In August, we talked about 2027 – as per Numerology. Today we are talking about the BESTU VARAS – as per Gujarati tradition. This is valid until next Diwali.
KALA – YUKTA: -
The name itself is derived from Sanskrit:
· Kāla (काल): Time, fate, death, or destiny
· Yukta (युक्त): Endowed with, joined, or occupied by
Taken together, it signifies a year governed by the gravity of time, destiny, and karmic turning points.
1. Classical Astrological Meaning (Phaladesh)
Classical Sanskrit treatises describe the general influence (Varsha Phala) of Kālayukta as follows:
कालयुक्ते तु संवत्सरे बहुशोकसमन्विताः।
प्रजाश्च व्याधिसंयुक्ता दुर्भिक्षभयपीडिताः॥
(In the year Kālayukta, the populace faces emotional turbulence, bouts of health challenges, unpredictable seasons, and anxieties regarding resources.)
To verify the above results, we studied the major events in the past two KALAYUKTA SAMVASTSAR in 1906-1907 and 1966-1967.

In India
· Widespread Bubonic Plague Epidemic killed 1.3 million people in British India died of plague, paralysing trade and rural life.
· Fallout of the Bengal Partition & Communal Rift (1906–1907): Lord Curzon’s 1905 partition of Bengal triggered massive unrest.

· The Bihar Famine & Severe Food Shortages (1966–1967): Following consecutive monsoon failures in 1965 and 1966, Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh experienced acute starvation and malnutrition, forcing India into a humiliating "ship-to-mouth" dependency on U.S. PL-480 wheat shipments.
· Severe Economic Crisis & Rupee Devaluation (June 1966): Crushed by the costs of the 1965 war with Pakistan and agricultural drought, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was forced to devalue the Indian Rupee by 57.5% (from ₹4.76 to ₹7.50 per USD), causing severe inflation and public uproar.
· Political Shock & Anti-Cow Slaughter Riots (November 1966): In November 1966, a massive mob of ascetics and protesters attempted to storm the Parliament building in New Delhi, demanding a ban on cow slaughter, resulting in police firing, deaths, and the resignation of Home Minister Gulzarilal Nanda.

· Cultural Revolution in China (Launched May 1966): Mao Zedong unleashed the Red Guards, leading to mass purges, destruction of historical artefacts, social chaos, and the deaths of hundreds of thousands over the subsequent decade.
· The Six-Day War (June 1967): Israel launched preemptive strikes against Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. The conflict fundamentally reshaped Middle Eastern geopolitics and displaced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.
· Escalation of the Vietnam War (1966–1967): U.S. troop deployment surged past 450,000, with extensive bombing campaigns (Operation Rolling Thunder) causing widespread civilian and military casualties.

Looking at both historical windows through the lens of classical astrology (Bṛhat Saṃhitā):
