Being An Investor V/s. Doing Investments for Gains – two are opposite. 

 

Dear Fellow Travellers,

 

Jai Hind! I keep on studying the investors behaviours and always look out for the HOLY GRAIL of wealth creation. I came across the subtle difference between the WEALTHY on one side and RICH and MIDDLE CLASS on the other side.  The above two phrases BEING AN INVESTOR and DOING INVESTMENT FOR GANS -  look similar to many but they are not same. Let me share a simple story to bring home the point. 

 

Loving Wife and Practical Wife: - 

 

Husband came home from work. He was too tired. So, he asked for a glass of water and his wife went to get the water for him. 

 

Since he was too tired – before she came – husband slept thirsty only. 

 

Now, the wife was in a dilemma. His Husband was thirsty and woke up any time. He was tired and sleeping. So, it was not appropriate to wake him up. So, she waited with the glass of water in her hand for a full night. 

 

In the morning the husband woke up and saw his wife standing with a glass of water. He said – I would have taken the water. Why do you remain awake throughout the night? 

 

Wife said you were tired and thirsty. You may wake up anytime so I remained awake. 

The neighbours came to know about this incident and the wife became the talk of the town. Ultimately the KING came to know about the same. So, he invited the wife and praised her for love and dedication. He gave a good amount of costly clothes and jewellery to the wife. 

 

Seeing her clothes and jewellery – the neighbour’s wife became jealous. She also decided to do the same.

 

She explained to the husband to come to the home after the day's work and ask for water. While she goes to get the water – husband must sleep. Now, the husband had no choice but to follow the wife. 

 

He did the same. Wife brought the water. Now, she did self-talk that he will wake up in the morning only. No need to stand up for a night. She went and slept. Morning they're-played the same dialogues and neighbours heard the same. 

 

Ultimately the King also came to know. So, she was called by him. King asked his police to beat her with the belt. She was beaten. 

 

She asked the reason for this beating. King replied – the earlier wife did the same with love and you copied her to gain what she got. Do you think – we are fools?

 

What is the relevance of this story to Investments? 

 

The loving wife is an example of BEING. She was good by heart. She was not expecting any reward ( which she got from the King) by showing her love and dedication towards her husband. She felt it was her duty to take care of her husband. 

 

The practical wife did all the drama to get the jewellery and clothes. No love and dedication for husband. She is an example of DOING something for gains.

 

If the normal KING can make out the difference between LOVE and DRAMA – The Market is the KING of THE KINGS. It will not take time to differentiate with investors with BEING and investment with a doing mentality.

 

What is my observation? 

 

I have closely watched Buffett very closely. Buffett says – “I am okay if the market closes for 10 years after my investments.” 

 

The best of UHNI – I am in touch with – they also taught me  to have a vision of 10 years and invest. 

 

They say if you can’t see the picture of the coming 10 years with respect to your investments – you should not invest in the first place. 

 

What is MY UNIQUE SPECIALITY? 

 

Way back in 2012 – I said India’s golden time starts from 2014 to 2032 ( 68^th independence day to 86^th independence day). I didn’t know at that time that MODI JI would come to power in 2014. 

 

Most FUND HOUSES started selling their Indian investment theme in 2022. Their collective call was that this is INDIA's DECADE. They were saying for 2022-2032. 

 

Now, Hitesh Parikh was ahead of them by 10 years. With my system – those who had really big dreams and wanted to make tons of money and had tons of patience also – they have made really good money from 2014 till now. They didn’t bother with the INVESTMENT RETURN / CONSULTANCY FEES. They just remained with me and followed me.
