PITRU PAKSHA SPECIAL STORY – VAMAN AVATAR and your FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT. 

 

Dear Fellow Travellers,

 

Pitru Devtabhyo Namah! Yesterday we shared a story of ATMADEV’s desire to get KID by hook or crook and the final repercussions of the same. He died without the happiness of the KID, in spite of having 2 kids. This is the power of DESTINY over MAN’s MADNESS. Today we will deal with an equally interesting story of VAMAN AVATAR given in 8^th SKANDHA of SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM. 

 

The Story :- 

 

Bali Raja – the kind of DEMON was ruling the Universe. Lord Vishnu wanted to give that to INDRA. But BALI was very PIOUS and STRONG. It was not possible to UPROOT him easily.  

 

So, Lord Vishnu took birth as VAMAN – which means short / dwarf – in the family of KASHYAP RISHI. He went to BALI RAJA where he was doing a YAGYA. When BALI asked him what do you want from him – VAMAN BHAGWAN asked just 3 steps of EARTH measured by his own FEET. 

 

Looking at his short size – BALI asked him to take more land or something else. But, VAMAN BHAGWAN stuck to his demand of 3 steps only. 

 

DEMON GURU SHUKRACHARYA told BALI that his is LORD VISHNU in the form of VAMAN and it will take all his possession in just 2 steps. You will have nothing left when he wants to keep the 3^rd step. But BALI didn’t listen to the GURU and he lost everything.

My learnings from the story: - 

 

1.  Many times with peer pressure or friends pressure – a person tastes the wine or some drugs. It looks very innocent at the time of taking it because you are taking it just for FUN. Now, these things get repeated over time. At the initial stage – a person's wife or some friends may stop him but he sticks to the same like BALI and suffers. Ultimately many get converted into compulsive drinkers or drug addicts.

 

2.  The other very routine observation is when a person is in need of money for consumption or payment of something which is a must – he is given options to take PERSONAL LOANS. The loan giver convinces you that you can pay in EASY EMIs. 

 

The starting of a loan is always small. When the next time he needs money – he will consider letting us take out a loan and enjoy the things NOW. We will pay in instalments. Slowly and gradually, he resorts to these EASY EMIs and instant gratifications. 

 

What started with an urgent need based LOAN – converts to the REGULAR FEATURES. Take LOAN and PAY IN EMIS. 

 

Another way to enjoy the LOAN is to have multiple credit cards. Pay the minimum every month or shift debit from one card to another card. They end up paying 36% interest yearly!! 

 

VAMAN becomes VIRAT: - 

 

VAMAN BHAGWAN became VIRAT and took everything from BALI in just 2 steps as told by SHUKRACHARYA. Third steps were kept on BALI’s HEAD and he was sent to PATAL. 

 

Whatever done for fun or for urgent NEEDS slowly becomes the HABIT. We often read about the persons are committing suicide because they can’t take the pressures of paying the money back and the torture of the LOAN giving agencies. 

 

How to Deal with the above? 

 

When there is a pressure for something in your FAMILY – be it consumption wants like buying iPhone 17 this Diwali or some other genuine needs and if you have NO MONEY – tell your near and dear that you DON’T HAVE MONEY. YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO BUY THEM NOW. 

 

If you tell them the above TRUTH – they will insult you. They will tell you that you don’t love them. You are good for nothing. They may hate you also. 

 

This humiliation will hurt your EGO. And if you take it positively – you will find out the ways to EARN EXTRA MONEY to pay for the iPhone17. When you work hard for the same and collect the total money and buy the iPhone – your near and dear will appreciate your efforts and change your perception about you over a period of time. You will get their genuine love for your HONESTY. This is time taking and not instant. The long term advantage of the same will be your KIDS will also pick up financial prudence over instant gratification through loans. 

 

Now, this is easier for me to write because I have always practiced the same. I have NO SHAME in admitting to my family when I don’t have money to pay. I always make it a point to work hard, accumulate money and find out the ways to pay for the same without the loan. 

 

Way towards Financial Freedom is SIMPLE, not EASY. Those who want EASY things in life – they end up in the cobweb of EASY EMIS and die an everyday death. 

 

What NEXT? 

 

Buffett never took out a loan to buy shares in spite of holding a major stake in BANKS. He can get tons of LOANS at the touch of the button. But he never took loans. 

 

Today I see small investors are using MARGIN FUNDING and buying shares. 90% of them end up losing their capital and wealth. 

 

If you REVERSE the word LOAN – it converts to NA LO.
