How many viewers would have understood the meaning of “Risk Hey to Ishq Hey”?

Dear Fellow Travelers,

Namaste! When we watch movies or web series in current times – some dialogues become the talk of the town. Many of Amitabh Bachchan's movies dialogues of Don / Trishul / Shahenshah and many more had a catchy dialogue. When you hear them – they motivate you, they give you instant confidence and you feel that the world is in your control.

So, when the Harshad Mehta Web Series came – the above dialogue became the talk of the town.

What happened to Harshad Mehta?

The life which started with - “Risk Hey to Ishq Hey ended with - Mat Kar Maya Ko Ahankar, Mat Kar Kaya Ko Abhiman Kaya Gar Se Kachi.

Normal guys get motivated by this kind of dialogue and jump into the market. They take the risk which they can’t afford to take and in the end, they lose the last shirt.

Then they may blame the system/luck or conspiracies or any other person but not to them.

Am I suggesting that one should not take Risks?

Not at all. I am not suggesting that. In fact, I am suggesting taking the Right Risk. Let me share a beautiful story.

Once there lived a king called Uttanapada. King Uttanapada had two queens, Suniti and Suruchi. Queen Suniti was the older queen. She was good and kind and gentle. She had a little son called Dhroov. Queen Suruchi, the younger queen, was very beautiful, but proud and haughty. Suruchi, too, had a son, who was called Uttama.

As a child, Dhroov wanted to seat in the lap of his father. His stepmother – SURUCHI threw him out of the palace. He went in search of a more powerful king than his father – Naryana and he got him and today we have a pole star named after him.

All Hindu scriptures are written in coded language. This is a story also but there is another version of the same.

Suniti means the right way and Suruchi means – likable way. What we like normally is not always the right way.

Dhroov took more risk than the other son – UTTAMA. He did penance for years in the jungle and he got what he wanted not only for a lifetime but for eternity.

I want you to take risks in Buffett style.

What is Buffett style?

He is taking a lot of risks – market risk/company risk/currency risk and many other risks. But he is not taking one risk – Management Risk. He doesn’t compromise on this aspect. If management is not proper – he is not ready to invest a single penny.

Another aspect of his risk-taking is – he takes the risk what he understands. If he doesn’t understand the company or industry or they do not fall into his circle of competence – he avoids it.

He is not interested in beating the market. In fact, he has underperformed the market for the last 13 years but he is keeping his way as it is.

In the wall-street many fund managers have achieved 40% plus return for 10 years or more. Buffett kept on generating just a 20% average. For the last 20 years or more – he is among the first 5 richest people in the world. Those who generated 40% plus are not seen in the first 100 richest also.

He is taking all the risk supported by SUNITI. He is avoiding taking risks supported by SURUCHI.

Short cut V/s. Long Way: -

Harshad Mehta showed a shortcut to the top. Buffett showing a long way. Harshad Mehta did not enjoy his wealth. His family also suffered a lot of hassle due to his ways of working. They did not enjoy the tons of money.

Buffett is enjoying his wealth. He is donating now and his family has also enjoyed his money.

What is my understanding of the risk?

Not taking a risk is also a risk. So, everybody is taking a risk as per his understanding and capacities. The idea of this post is to take risks in Buffett style and not Harshad Mehta style.

You can break the system, reach to the top slowly and gradually also. The fun is – you will be there permanently once you reach there.

If you don't take Risk with SUNITI, you will have no ISHQ for sure.
